My Life in Words
Writing is my passion and I’m proud to have made it my career.
Success as a writer came early, when I won a prize at primary school for my joined-up handwriting. This prestigious award encouraged me to write a diary every evening from the age of eleven. I continued this daily task for over a decade.
Having completed a BA (Hons) degree in English and Media, I landed a dream job as a local press reporter. I worked on a weekly title for a regional newspaper group and gained experience in radio journalism.
My interest in the business sector sparked a move into Public Relations and my decision to study marketing. After working my way up through the ranks in a PR agency, I launched my own business in 2000.
I started out as a freelance PR consultant, working for many leading PR and marketing agencies across Yorkshire. I gradually built up my own PR client base, including local businesses in varied sectors and national firms in the food manufacturing industry.
The nature of my work has evolved over the years, thanks to the development of the internet, email marketing and social media. Today my professional copy writing skill and media relations expertise helps to promote and proactively market businesses across the UK.
Alongside my PR and copy writing career, I have gained a Masters degree in TV & Radio Scriptwriting. I recently co-created a comedy drama series idea that has been optioned by a major TV production studio.
Who knows, maybe one day I’ll use those teenage diaries as inspiration for an Oscar-winning screenplay…
